Utility of Diodes
Diode is specific device. Which is used to rectification of AC power to DC. With the help of diode we can make rectifier circuit. There are three types of rectifier. Half wave rectifier,full wave rectifier,full wave center taped. Diodes are very common in electronics. A diode is also used in power conversion of application.Below given figure shows diode operation as a rectifier.
During the positive half cycle of input wave,anode is made positive and cathode is negative. As a result current flows through it.
During the negative half cycle of input supply,we will name the anode as a negative charge but cathode is positive,through this diode will be reverse-biased.Hence diode will be off because current will not flows through it.
Diode in logic circuits
                                           Diode also can perform virtual good judgment operations. Accordingly, the diode can perform common sense operations consisting of AND, OR, NOT, gates.
Diodes in Voltage Multiplier Circuits
                                                                          Voltage multipier consists of two or more diose rectifier circuits which are cascaded to produce Direct Current voltage.
